What VPD tells you — and what it does not

What VPD tells you

Air VPD describes the moisture-removal potential of the surrounding air at the selected temperature and relative humidity. Use it to compare the relative drying pressure created by different settings.

What VPD does not tell you

VPD does not measure moisture inside the material, water activity, batch uniformity, microbial safety, or whether Drying or Curing is complete.

User Manual guidance: Default settings are starting references, not hard endpoints. Check the material’s actual condition before a program ends; when possible, verify moisture content or water activity.

iColor ranges update automatically for Drying, Curing, or Storage.

VPD is calculated from temperature and relative humidity. Green reflects the range mathematically derived from the operating limits in the Flavorwise user manual; other colors indicate distance from that range.
