Why does RH fluctuate during the first 48 hours?
What is happening
During the first 48 hours after fresh material is loaded, the system is typically operating under its highest moisture-removal load. Fresh material contains a significant amount of water, so the cabinet must continuously manage cooling, dehumidification, and moisture removal. Temporary increases and decreases in cabinet RH can be a normal part of this process and do not necessarily indicate a malfunction.
Why the first 48 hours are different
At the beginning of the process, high material moisture leads to high moisture release and a heavier dehumidification load. This creates a greater potential for evaporator frost and more noticeable RH movement. As the material gradually loses moisture, moisture release and system load decrease, and the cabinet environment should generally become more stable.
What to do when RH rises
If RH rises from 60% to 65%, 68%, or even temporarily approaches 70%, do not immediately open the cabinet. Keep the door closed and give the system enough time to complete its current automatic defrost and dehumidification cycle. Monitor and record temperature and RH, note when the increase occurs, and observe whether RH gradually recovers during the following cycles.
Avoid unnecessary intervention
Do not repeatedly open the door, unnecessarily power off or restart the unit, frequently remove material for inspection, or interrupt automatic defrost. Opening the door introduces warm and humid outside air. The system must then cool the cabinet and restore the selected environment again, which can increase compressor workload, promote another frost-and-defrost cycle, increase operating time and energy use, and make the processing environment less stable.
Contact support if
After the first 48 hours, RH remains abnormally high for an extended period or consistently fails to recover; the system cannot maintain the target environment; temperature also behaves abnormally; an alarm or unusual noise appears; significant water leakage or abnormal frost accumulation is observed; or abnormal operation continues while the cabinet remains closed without repeated manual intervention.

Why does RH fluctuate more with a full load?
Why a fuller load behaves differently
When only 1–2 lbs of fresh material is loaded, less moisture is released into the cabinet, so RH may appear steadier. A full load releases much more moisture and creates a heavier moisture-removal load. More visible RH movement is therefore expected with more material and does not by itself mean the cabinet is malfunctioning.
What the cabinet is doing
As the moisture-removal load increases, the compressor and dehumidification system work harder. Frost is more likely to form on the evaporator, so the cabinet may start an automatic defrost cycle more often. During defrost, dehumidification pauses briefly while the frost melts, and RH may temporarily rise or fluctuate before moving back toward the selected setpoint.
What to do
Keep the door closed and leave the cabinet powered on. Do not switch it off, restart it, or unplug it in response to a temporary RH rise. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the active control cycle to move RH back toward the target. The system continues regulating RH around the selected setpoint, and brief movement above or below that target is normal during high-load operation.
Contact support if
RH remains far outside the selected range, does not recover after repeated operating cycles, or the change is accompanied by abnormal temperature, an alarm, unusual noise, water leakage, or heavy frost accumulation.

Why can defrost and air exchange temporarily increase RH?
Automatic defrost
During high-load dehumidification, frost may gradually accumulate on the evaporator. When required, the system automatically enters a defrost cycle: continuous dehumidification leads to frost accumulation, automatic defrost begins, and dehumidification resumes after defrost is complete. During defrost, the compressor temporarily stops, dehumidification pauses, and frost on the evaporator melts. Some moisture may be released back into the cabinet air while fresh material continues releasing moisture. Cabinet RH can therefore rise during or shortly after defrost. This temporary increase is part of the normal operating process. Once defrost is complete, the system automatically resumes cooling and dehumidification, and RH should gradually decrease again.
Automatic air exchange
The system also performs periodic automatic air exchange as part of its control logic—approximately once every 12 hours, lasting around 15 minutes. If the surrounding air is more humid than the air inside the cabinet, incoming air can introduce additional moisture and temporarily increase cabinet RH. The effect may be more noticeable in warm or humid environments.
What you may observe
The operating sequence may appear as dehumidification, defrost, resumed dehumidification, automatic air exchange, and continued dehumidification. A temporary RH rise around defrost or shortly after air exchange does not by itself mean the system has malfunctioned.
Most important principle
Observe first rather than immediately intervening. Keep the cabinet closed and leave the cabinet powered on; do not restart or unplug it during a temporary RH rise. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the active control cycle to move RH back toward the selected setpoint. This temporary movement is part of normal defrost and air-exchange operation.

Why can’t the cabinet humidity quickly hit the default target of 60% after fresh plant material is loaded?
What is happening
When compressor-driven cooling starts, a large difference between set temperature and actual cabinet temperature triggers high-load compressor operation. Apart from rapid cabinet cooling, strong dehumidification takes place during this period. Humidity will fluctuate substantially and may drop far below the target while the compressor runs hard. Once temperature reaches the setpoint, the compressor exits high-speed operation, and humidity will gradually return to the preset target.
Recommendation
Run the unit empty for 1–2 hours before loading crops for drying, to establish stable temperature and humidity conditions inside the cabinet first.
The compressor is mainly for temperature control. Why does humidity fluctuate when it runs at high speed?
Why this happens
High-load compressor operation achieves fast cooling with a side-effect of dehumidification. During frequent high-speed compressor cycles, humidity fluctuates and may read slightly below the setpoint. This is normal operating behavior and nothing to worry about.
Why do temperature and humidity swing drastically if the door is opened while the unit is working?
Why this happens
Stable temperature-humidity regulation requires a sealed controlled enclosure. Opening the cabinet door breaks the internal climate balance. When there is a notable temperature gap between inside and outside, the mixing of cold and warm air instantly generates moisture and mist, triggering an abrupt humidity surge and large-scale swings in both temperature and humidity.

Operation Guide

Check the water tank regularly and adjust the water level according to the active Drying or Curing stage.

Check Water Regularly

Check the water tank regularly during operation. Water needs vary by stage, so adjust the water level according to whether the cabinet is running Drying or Curing.

Adjust by Stage

During early Drying, little or no added water is usually needed as fresh material releases moisture. During Curing, add clean water as needed and keep a small amount in the tank to support humidity control.

Power-off memory

After power returns, operation resumes according to the pre-loss state and program version. Confirm the active mode and settings.

Door safety lock

The cabinet uses a mechanical lock and key. Keep the key available to an authorized operator and never force the door.
